Dancers from Aegis Live Arts: MIchelle Buckley, Chiara Favaretti, Fenella Kennedy with David Beer
For the new Alberti, of which there was no recording, we paralleled the idea of a visual score as structure for sound, by using the church, its physical form, as a structure for the dance. In the 2nd movement, using the space of the church, I briefly reflected upon a study in peripheral vision that I first explored in my work, The Brodmann Areas in 2012. The audience should view the dancers peripherally. In the Vivaldi the first movement is a Fugue. A complex cascade of melodic lines takes over the otherwise simple and quirky theme. We found this concerto had a dense complexity, from which we revealed levity and humour, themes typical of an Aegis Live Arts performance. Gleich also performed in the Alberti work.
